ESTA Holding Responds to Web-based Media “The Village Kyiv” Request

01.08.2013

- Newspaper “Vzglyad” has published information, that a pedestrian subway near TSUM will be transferred to ESTA Holding and it will be cleared up from old outlets. Here is the link. Can you confirm this information?

- One more question as for dismantling. If I have understood you right, all old materials, fit to be used, would remain in the walls structure, and the unfit ones would be removed and substituted.

Svetlana Nidzvetskaya

Yes, we confirm the information, contained in the article. Indeed, ESTA Holding asked Kyiv City Council to consider the possibility to lease the pedestrian subway, adjacent to TSUM building. If ESTA Holding receives the required consent of Kyiv City Council, the subway will be repaired and joint to TSUM. In the long term we are interested in maintaining the subway, because the subway will become the part of the main department store of the capital.

As for the second question, if you are asking about dismantling of the 6th and 7th floors, we dismantle them in full with further identical restoration.
We shall do the restoration work using new materials, as the walls of the 6th and 7th floors are made of low-grade bricks and matrix and have inadequate strength. At the same time we preserve the elements of the old building interior (marble, balusters) to use in the reconstructed department store.
