07.07.2015

Construction works on the TSUM construction site are being conducted in accordance with the approved schedule of reconstruction. This autumn, the central department store of the capital is to be covered with a dome and interior finishing works are to be started. Currently, leasing contracts with brands of key categories have been signed for a total of 6,000 square meters.

Reconstruction

Construction and space planning of underground floors, the most difficult part of the reconstruction project, has been completed. Construction of the two-level parking lot for 180 cars and a pass for visitors and delivery of goods has been also finished.

Most of the construction and installation works on reinforced concrete structures of the 4th and 5th floors have been finished. The minus 1st (men’s clothes) and the first (cosmetics and perfumery) floors are prepared for the installation of utility lines. A total of over 15,000 cubic meters of concrete has been laid in TsUM constructions since the beginning of construction works.

Along with inner finishing works, utility lines are being laid and historical frontispiece is being restored. Ventilation system is being installed on the minus 1st floor with electric lines, fire alarm system, water supply and sewerage system to be installed later. Restoration of historical frontispiece will be completed in October this year. Currently, handling of joints and sanding of surface are being made.

The TsUM building will be closed till late November 2015. After windows and rooftop are installed and the glass dome is assembled and installed, interior finishing works will be started.

Leasing

About 300 brands will be presented in the new TsUM. This is the best selection of brands of medium plus and premium segments to be united as part of the department store for the first time in Ukraine. Kyiv TsUM will have a relatively small corner per brand, in particular around 40 square meters per brand of clothes and 10 square meters per brand of shoes. This approach will allow TsUM leasers to have a high turnover rate per 1 square meter, while visitors will enjoy a large area with a wide selection of brands, situated really close.

Currently, contracts with over 50 leasers, representing more than 120 brands, have been signed for a total leasing area of 6,000 square meters. These are the key brands of major categories of the department store. Brand corners of the market leaders, including Chanel, Dior, Lancôme and Estée Lauder, as well as the first corners of Kiehls and Jo Malone in Ukraine will work in the department of cosmetics and perfumery. Prominent corners of Hugo Boss and Boggi will work on the men’s clothes floor. The department of women’s shoes will host Le Silla and Sergio Rossi brands. The participation of many other key brands is being negotiated to sign contracts.

25% of the new TsUM projected area will be held by food stores, cafes, bars and restaurants. The relevant decision was made due to the current trend of people spending more time outside and being more selective of the quality of food they eat.

The food hall of the sixth floor will include 25 food departments occupying the area of 3,200 square meters. Currently, the best Ukrainian producers and world importers of every category of goods, in particular bread and bakery, milk and milk products, cheese, meat, fish, vegetables and fruits, coffee and tea, confectionery and chocolate, vine etc., are being selected.

Restaurants and cafes will occupy the area of 3,500 square meters of the top 7th floor of TsUM and will have panoramic terraces with the area of 1,000 square meters. 6 different types of cafes will be presented here, from democratic salad bars to premium-class restaurants. Leasing contracts have already been signed with four operators of this floor.
