25.04.2013
In the frames of the program on pedestrian infrastructure improvement at the Andriyvsky Descent ESTA Holding and famous designer Ihor Skliarevskiy developed information and tourist navigation system for the ancient street. Info items are based on little-known stories, legends and mysteries of Andriyvsky Descent inhabitants, collected by Kyiv history expert Vladyslava Osmak.
“Introduction of Andriyivsky Descent navigation system is one of ESTA Holding promises to Kyiv inhabitants. We’ve had a responsible approach while working at the project, having engaged actually the best team in this area led by Ihor Skliarevskiy, says Anton Hlyvynskiy, public relations and communications director of ESTA Holding. “We do hope that city inhabitants and tourists will appreciate the results of our work, as the project was developed, initiated and supported by Kyiv history experts, historians and people having devoted their lives to Andriyivsky Descent».
The navigation system includes once popular at the Andriyivsky Descent poster pillars in the upper and lower parts of the street, as well as information stands to contain notes on the history of Andriyivsky Cathedral, tower house, Ivan Kavaleridze museum, Richard’s palace, Uzdykhalnytsia and Zamkova mountains, Teatr na Podoli (Podil Theatre) and Koleso (Wheel) Theatre, Bulgakov’s house museum, One Street Museum and ancient mansions.
The project’s motto is “Do not harm!,” while the principal requirement is to preserve unique visual style of the street, having been formed in 18-20th centuries.
“When working at the project I first of all realized that it is not only a street that I’m developing, it is rather a museum street, a history and architecture monument, a city symbol for Kyiv guests. There is something much bigger than that. Andriyivsky contains a part of life, the best reminiscent of millions of people adoring this place. That is why my colleagues and I defined severe quality terms and criteria and started our work by formulating our motto, namely ‘Do not harm!;” Ihor Skliarevskiy comments.
ESTA Holding is ready to invest UAH 400,000 in navigation project for the Andriyivsky Descent, if Kyiv inhabitants support the idea.
